VISION 12: The Business of Art
July 13 - July 28, 2007
Want to get to know the art galleries in Chicago? To meet dealers, discover artists and learn about how to collect fine art? Think you have seen all there is to see? 2007's summer art gallery event, VISION 12, will run from July 13-28 and the gallery districts will be alive and packed for two weeks in July. New exhibitions will be up, and a series of receptions, free tours and talks take place. Brave the heat, the CTA construction and come to the West Loop and River North in July!
The CADA and VISION:
The Art Dealers Association of Chicago includes the city's foremost dealers committed to representing the highest standards of fine art. The CADA provides programs for better understanding of fine art, and awareness of Chicago as a major international art center. VISION showcases outstanding artwork in the city's premier galleries and aims to increase awareness of Chicago as a fine arts capital.

West Loop & Fulton Market Gallery Districts
Located on or near Washington and Peoria Streets, and Fulton Market & Carpenter

Shuttles: free shuttles will run between River North, (Superior and Franklin) the West Loop (Peoria and Washington) & Fulton Market (Fulton Market and Carpenter) between 6-8:30 pm

Moderated by award-winning broadcast and print journalist Mara Tapp, the panel includes: art dealer Tom McCormick; Gary Metzner from Sotheby’s Chicago; art appraiser Barbara Schnitzer; MetCap Bank President Michael Rose; art consultant Emily Nixon as well as art collector Curt Conklin. The discussion will cover investment strategies and how the roles of dealer, auction house, appraiser, consultant, and other professionals can guide you in your purchase of fine art. Corky Siegel, Chicago treasure and legendary harmonica player and pianist, will give a talk and a rare intimate-venue performance. Corky will be joined in performance by Jim Tullio, a Grammy Award winning record producer and virtuoso on acoustic bass.

3rd Annual Chicago Puppet Performance Showcase

Professional Chicago puppeteers stage two performances, which will run the gamut from traditional to experimental puppetry. Featuring leading performers from the Chicago puppetry scene, the showcase will explore the medium’s history while experimenting with forms this art can take and expanding the definitions of puppetry.
